Come Worship Texas - May 2nd - An Amazing Event!

If you are anywhere close to Texas on May 2nd, you must come to see this amazing event, Come Worship Texas! Last year was fabulous with Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, Francis Chan, and others, but this year Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Kirk Cameron, Francis Chan, etc... Time to carpool or road trip to Burleson, Texas.

Almost Done With Those Taxes!

She looks like I feel, but I don't wear dresses while I am doing my taxes! I would be best described as very slouchy with a hat on and no makeup. That is what I have been doing all week and I cannot wait to celebrate the minute I hand over those taxes to the CPA, hopefully next week! Have you started on yours? The kids' taxes have been filed by me and already have their refunds..thanks to EZ Form. xoxo

Dad Is Home

Last Thursday I was calling my Dad and checking in. When he asked me if I was coming home the next weekend for Memorial Day, I knew something was wrong. After a few phone calls between Michelle, his girlfriend, and I she confirmed that he was hallucinating and she had put in a call to the doctor. He was also very dizzy and could not walk well. So, I am in waiting mode to see what is wrong. I had a hair appointment Thursday afternoon to get my hair straightened and cut so I went ahead to the appointment. At 4:30 they admitted Dad to the ER for tests, so i packed a bag and headed to Oklahoma. My sister, Kelly, was leaving from Oklahoma City at the same time. They did a CAT scan and an x-ray to check out Dad's chest as he had pneumonia a few weeks ago. They were both clear. They admitted him that night. Speaking to two doctors there at the hospital, they said that if they had to guess, he probably had a light stroke. An MRI was scheduled the next day at 11:00. The results from the MRI arrived late Friday evening. The MRI did not show any tumors or a stroke. We were so thankful. The doctors diagnosed him with a severe sinus infection and vertigo. They started antibiotics and steroids. They released him yesterday morning. He is very weak, but seems to feel a little better. Dad enjoyed my sister and I as we giggled at 12:30 a.m. while trying to get situated on a hospital bed in his semi-private room. She ended up at one end, and me at the other. Dad said that he was reminded of old times. At least we didn't end up hitting and arguing! Kelly stayed until Saturday afternoon and I came home Sunday afternoon. We are so thankful for Michelle. She unfortunately broke two of her fingers when she fell in her barn. She is a hair stylist, so she can't work right now. Bless her heart. It is just like God to arrange her time off while Dad needed her. Please pray for Dad. He is so active and will be stir crazy real soon!

The boys seemed to do okay without Mom here for four days. Pat went to a wedding without me on Saturday, and then joined Bubba and went to the Maverick game (thanks to my friend, Tami!) G passed on the Mav tickets and went to a party. While playing some basketball, he sprained his ankle. Sis came in Saturday night and went to church with Pat on Sunday morning. Yep! A beat was not skipped in my absence. I missed them all very much!

Hugs!

God's Mysterious Ways...

God's mysterious ways...

The Ant and the Contact Lens: a true story

Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremendous granite cliff. She was standing on a ledge where she was taking a breather during this, her first rock climb. As she rested there, the safety rope snapped against her eye and knocked out her contact lens. "Great', she thought. 'Here I am on a rock ledge, hundreds of feet from the bottom and hundreds of feet to the top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry.' She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed on the ledge. But it just wasn't there. She felt the panic rising in her, so she began praying. She prayed for calm, and she prayed that she may find her contact lens.

When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found . Although she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened because she could not clearly see across the range of mountains. She thought of the bible verse 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.'

She thought, 'Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf,

and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.'

Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, 'Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?'

Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across a twig on the face of the rock, carrying it!

The story doesn't end there. Brenda's father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a cartoon of an ant lugging that contact lens with the caption,'Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You'

I think it would do all of us some good to say, 'God, I don't know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it, I will.'

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Yes, I do love GOD. He is my source of existence and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him....I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)

If you love GOD and are not ashamed of all the marvelous things He has done for you,

send on.

Thanks to You From Bubba!

Bubba (not his real name he would like for you to know) wanted me to say "thank you" for him to all of you prayer warriors that have been praying for him these past few weeks. To update those who don't know what I am referring to, let me just tell you. About a month ago Bubba applied for a position as camp counselor for Camp Red Cloud in Lake City, Colorado. Their web site is www.campredcloud.org He had an extensive application (8 or 9 pages), three references, and a two hour telephone interview. His interview was last Thursday and today he had a follow-up telephone interview. The person calling said that she had a few more questions. The first four were pretty tough. She said that the last question was very serious and that he should really think about his response. She asked "Can you tell me one of your favorite jokes". She then offered him the job. He will leave in mid May and return in the fall. We are so, so, so every excited for him and he is absolutely thrilled. So again we say thank you very much! What a great day it has been! As Bubba kept saying "God is Good"!

Mardi Gra on Valentine's Day

So much food Mardi Gra style! Our friends, Brian and Lecia, who just built next door to us in Hico, hosted this annual event. I have never set at a table covered with newspaper and the food is tossed on! No silverware either. There were crawfish, huge shrimp, new potatoes and corn-on-the-cob! Delish! This was my first time to eat craw fish. It tasted good, but I couldn't stomach the head, so I only ate a few. Also, it is too much work for me. What a great Valentine idea! Thanks Brian and Lecia! We had so much fun.

Hugs!

Whirlin Wednesday

I am so addicted to these candy hearts. Now I have Pat addicted too! My favorite is the pink hearts and my least favorite is the white ones. I went into CVS this week and bought three or four bags because Pat reminded me that after Valentines Day there will be no more. So, as I sit here and blog I will eat my hearts..the green heart I am popping into my mouth reads "Got Love"?

Cash had to go to the vet today as he was not eating or running around terrorizing us with his playfulness. He seems better this afternoon. What a relief!

Today is a busy day as the Christian Women's Job Corp started today and I was scheduled to give my testimony at 8:30 this morning. Part of my testimony includes Becky Tirabassi's book "Let Prayer Change Your Life", so I discussed her book and each woman received a book and a journal so that they will be encouraged to journal themselves. At 11:00 this morning I started teaching Word. Word lasts about six weeks and then I will teach Excel. I am so excited this year about teaching and can't wait to see women whose lives are transformed in just a few months. What an amazing ministry!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tomorrow is G's last basketball game with the school. I am excited that my dad is going to come and watch him play tomorrow. Speaking of Dad, I am so thankful that the tornadoes didn't effect him or my mom's house. They live only 40 minutes from Lone Grove, Oklahoma. My sister, Kelly, lives near Oklahoma City. Too close for me!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is pressing me right now is trying to get the tax information together to hand off to the CPA. It seems to take many weeks for me to do this. You should see my office right now!

Hope you are having a good week!

Happy Birthday Get Together

My Mom with the kids
Friday night we celebrated the kids' birthday at Uno's Pizza in Fort Worth. Mom was in town for the weekend so she celebrated with us too!
~~~~~
The weekend was fun and relaxing. I am so happy we were able to celebrate the kids' birthday together. We met Sis after work, so that helped. Saturday Mom and I hung out. We went to a huge antique place. I have decided that I am ready to start decorating the Hico house, so I bought a coupe of things to go above the cabinets.
~~~~~
Happy Birthday to my mother-in-law, Chris! I hope you had a great birthday.

Hope everyone has a great week!
Hugs!

Join Me in This Challenge

Memorizing scripture has always been difficult for me. This year I am taking the challenge! am a frequent reader of Beth Moore's blog and this year she is challenging her readers to memorize scripture with her. On the 1st and 15th of each month we are to post our favorite scripture that we would like to memorize. If you can't think of one, we are advised to read the scriptures that are posted by other readers. I started January 15th and my first verse I felt challenged to memorize was 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all tings at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. I made an index card and placed it in my car so that I can read it everyday. Today is the 15th and I will try to memorize Galatians 6:9 Let us not become wary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Her blog is funny and encouraging to me. Want to join me?
